Family Promise of the Triangle

Information provided by: Alliance Health

* A Hand Up - Our homelessness prevention program. We receive referrals through school social workers to locate families at risk of experiencing homelessness. We then work with families, landlords, and utility companies to work out payment plans for rental arrears and utility bills. After offering assistance, our case managers spend a year following up with our families to discuss budgeting and life skills so that they don’t end up in a similar situation in the near future. * Rapid Rehousing - A housing-first program that moves at-risk or newly homeless families into a stable home as quickly as possible. After housing is secured, families are then provided with wraparound services and meet regularly with one of our case managers to discuss budgeting and life skills. * Emergency Shelter - This is our flagship program. In traditional shelter programs, families are forced to separate into several shelters throughout the city since most shelters cater to specific ages and genders. We have four three-bedroom, three-bathroom apartments that are used to shelter an entire family comfortably together for eight to twelve weeks. * Transitional Housing - A program where families live in one of our apartments for up to twelve months. While Rapid-Rehousing is a housing FIRST program, Transitional Housing is a housing READY program. During the twelve months in our Transitional Housing program, a family lives in one of our three-bedroom, three-bathroom apartments, gains employment, and saves 33% of their income that we hold for them in escrow until they graduate. This means that they will have saved a nest egg for future emergencies during their time in this program. * Safe @ Home - One of two post-shelter stabilization programs where families who graduate from one of our programs can receive emergency assistance once each year. * A New Lease on Life - Our second post-shelter stabilization program and partnership with the Triangle Apartment Association. Families can receive up to two years of reduced rent after graduating from one of our programs.
