The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) provides healthy foods, nutrition and breastfeeding support, and referrals to healthcare and community services. WIC serves babies and children up to age five, pregnant women, and new mothers. All caretakers of young children and working families are welcome at WIC!   • Eligibility Requirements:WIC is for infants, children up to age five, pregnant women and women who have recently delivered a baby. Caretakers of children under age 5, including foster parents, can apply. Applicants must live in North Carolina, have a health/nutrition risk factor, and have a family income less than 185% of the U.S. Poverty Income Guidelines. A person receiving Medicaid, Work First Families Assistance (TANF), or assistance from the NC Food and Nutrition Services automatically meets the income eligibility requirement.
