Phone picked up by Raleigh, NC analyst (Mr. Alexander) immediately after LONG announcement finished. Very cordial and helpful young man who answered all my question, explained what to expect given current COVID situation, and gave instructions needed for next step. Not rushed, not put-off on hold. A very useful and pleasant interaction.

I have had some fairly complex dealings with the Raleigh office and the service has always been helpful, polite and efficient. The wait time on the phone is I think quite acceptable, 15-30 minutes.

I had to wait about 15 minutes, however the woman I spoke to was very pleasant and answered all of my questions. I'm assuming the long wait times are due to high call volumes or staffing, so I don't hold that against them!

I was a little frustrated at times because of the wait time. But, I've been put on hold before. I just had to be a little patient (15-20 min). I tried three times and got through on the third try. The person on the other end of the phone washed away all of my frustration. She was so kind, patient, helpful, and compassionate (I was reporting a death). I've worked in a call center environment before, and it can really be tough. Never the less, the person I worked with exhibited excellent service.

The phone answering service should include how long is the waiting time, so the person can decide if waiting or get frustrated another day......I think the workers are helpful and friendly, just need to improve the phone answering service......

The Social Security of Raleigh North Carolina does not communicate. I enrolled for Medicare on 12/1/2023 and as of today had not heard a thing from this office and it’s Feb 7, 2023. I turn 65 March 1, 2024. I’ve tried calling the office for over 2 weeks and there’s always a 2 hr wait before you can speak with anyone. Today I called and finally got to leave my phone no for a call back. The information was not what I wanted to hear. I will not have Medicare on March 1, 2024 like I was supposed to and I am not happy about this entire situation. I have been paying over $800 a month for private insurance and now it looks like I’ll have to continue until after I’m 65. This office needs to better serve the public. This is very frustrating !!!

Trying to call to get my new daughter's SS card and CANNOT get through. I've called multiple times. I was on hold so long the phone just went silent and I had to hang up. This is ridiculous.

Absolutely the Worst experience ever!! Have gotten the runaround every time I call (when/if they answer). Am told something different each time I do manage to speak to someone or go into the local office. They have made promises and not kept them. They lack competence and empathy. It’s disgraceful and shameful.

I have called several times at different times/days, and EVERY time the number hangs up before I'm connected with someone. It's not a phone issue. I know, because I've worked in telecommunications - these people are picking up the phone and hanging up. Ridiculous, considering the agent in the physical office TOOK my card and said the new one would be sent to me TWO WEEKS AGO. Horrible. I'm on the line with the official ss admin right now.

Have had an absolutely terrible experience. Been dealing with them over 18 months, and they still they can’t get it together. Staff is very rude, hangs up, and does not try to help at all. I have to call about one issue at-least 5 times before it is fixed and they have created at least 10 different issues. No one knows what they’re doing or tries to help.

Had an appointment at 1030am on phone. I drove a half hour to my moms in apex. Now I’m waiting on the phone to speak to a representative. This is ridiculous

The worst experience I have ever had. Frustrating period! After long waits and multiple disconnections, someone finally gets on the phone and started firing away from a script. It took a minute to get her attention to hear me ask my question. She said call back Monday (today is Friday) and she hung up. I have been in support for over 25 years and I do not recall such rudeness when reviewing employees calls related to customers complaints. I am sure there are good agents but this agent gave a whole new meaning to government support. This Raleigh office is a disaster especially since COVID-19 pandemic perturbations to service onsite. May God help us all get anything done through this office.

They get zero stars from me. I’ve been calling all week and no one answered. Very frustrating, all I’m trying to do is get ss cards for my children. What kinds of government agency doesn’t assist the citizens? If you all are short staff, I’ll help but geesh. You all need to figure this out because it’s causing a lot of delays in peoples person business affairs!!!

THIS IS THE WORSE SERVICE I HAVE EVER RECEIVED FROM ANY AGENCY!!! I would rate this location -5!! I have currently been on hold for 49 minutes and I hear every time they pick up and put my call back in queue. If there are no walk in services, the least they can do is answer the phones and give some kind of assistance.

I called three separate times to get my wife an appointment. I was left on hold too long while at work to the point where I did not have the time to be on hold any longer. So, we decided that my wife just show up to the office very early with every single document necessary to complete a name change, and while waiting she was told that they only operate by appointments made by phone call and that she could not even make an appointment while she was there. How are we suppose to make an appointment when we are just left on hold too long before needing to hang up? Making an appointment should not take over an hour. If this is a clear problem as it seems to be per the other comments, why would you not move to a website base appointment system? We are in the 21st century where online appointments are made very easily by thousands of different companies. By making phone calls the only way to make an appointment, it is clearly backing up production of employees and customers are left on

I would give negative stars if I could. The phone number to this office just places you on hold for hours on end. We have tried calling for MONTHS now. We even drove to the office twice and got turned away as they only accept appointments made by phone....... This.is.impossible.to.do.if.you.never.answer.the.phone! I have a flight booked in June under my new name and I thought I'd be able to change it by now. I cannot put into words how terrible this experience has been.

Waited through automated service and then on hold for 15 minutes. When it finally sounded like the phone rang through to an agent, it disconnected. How FRUSTRATING!!

Same experience as many others I have called several times and no one ever answers. I have waited hours. Today I called, waited an hour on hold, and then the call was disconnected. It is impossible to get in touch with anyone. Why don't they do something about this embarrassment to our government and public?

Just spent 30 minutes on hold only to be hung up on before I could say hello, it is obvious that the management of this office doesn't pay attention to this issue or there wouldn't be so many complaints about the same thing. I guess until these people need the service they don't care

I have had similar poor experience. Noone picks up call. Even if they do they hang up. Once i setup the claims process, Raleigh office has misplaced the original passport which was personally dropped into the drop box.

Was waiting on hold for 27 minutes when it told me all agents were busy and hung up. Really disappointed as I have no other way to make an appointment and I can't complete my name change online.

No answer when called. Will be placed on hold, no one answers after about 15 minutes and then they did connect you with no response whatsoever! Very frustrating and disappointing!

I have called this office twice today (06-21-2021 11:25) and when I finally get a representative after 16 minutes of holding, my information was taken then I was put hold for another 30 mins in which the representative did not return back to the call. I had to hung up. Just ridiculous.

Horrible, horrible service. I have tried multiple times to make an emergency appointment. Each time I have waited on hold for at least 15 minutes. Sometimes the call just ends. I got through to someone once and they said appointments weren’t allowed. When I said emergency appointments were she said she would check and then hung up on me. Another time she forwarded me to her supervisor. I got her voicemail, left a detailed message, and never got a return call. I cannot believe this is how our tax dollars are used. Disgusting!

I have called these people 3 times now. One time the person had no idea how appointments work. The second one literally picked up and i said i needed an appointment and then straight up hung up on me. Another one put me on hold and never came back.

I call in too check on my back pay when I called I was treated like I was a thief trying to steal my own money. I could not even get answers to my questions and every employee I spoke with had a nasty attitude I have been waiting patiently on my back pay it’s been six months in waiting and being a single father with two kids with a loss of there mother to call for answers and to get treated like I did is uncalled for
