Crisis call raises mental health awareness

Jun. 1—HUDSON — Caldwell County Sheriff's Office responded to a potentially deadly call on Tuesday (May 31) after receiving a report of a man with a gun.

The caller reported that the 26-year-old was threatening to take his own life if officers responded to the call, according to police radio traffic.

A female companion, who was with the young man at the time of the call, safely exited the house, according to Capt. Aaron Barlowe, Caldwell County Sheriff's Office.

Law enforcement officers were able to safely secure, deescalate the situation and take the man into custody within 45 minutes.
