Oct. 26--DAYTONA BEACH -- A woman has been jailed on accusations of stealing more than $47,000 from a woman with Alzheimer's disease and another $600 from an 85-year-old woman and her special-needs son.
The Daytona Beach Shores Department of Public Safety announced Thursday it had issued a warrant for the arrest of 52-year-old Christine Goeke. Officials there said she stole a total of $47,131 from a woman stricken with Alzheimer's and dementia.
Goeke was employed as a private home health care aide, authorities said.
Daytona Beach police also investigated Goeke on suspicion of stealing $600 from an 85-year-old woman and her 56-year-old son. The latter has Down syndrome, police said. In that case, she was charged with forgery and grand theft.
Goeke, authorities said, had been working as a privately contracted home health care aide throughout Volusia County. Anyone who may have been victimized by her is encouraged to contact police.
